Tiling & Flooring
Durable, beautifully laid surfaces for every room in your home.
Precision Tiling for Lasting Results
Tiles are one of the hardest-working surfaces in any home. They need to resist moisture in bathrooms and laundries, withstand heavy foot traffic in hallways and kitchens, and still look striking years after installation. HomeFix Craft's tilers bring the technical skill and attention to detail required to achieve all three — whether you have chosen porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, or an intricate mosaic design.
We handle every stage of the process: substrate assessment, waterproofing where required, adhesive selection, tile cutting, laying, grouting, and final sealing. Our team works with tiles of all sizes — from small-format mosaics through to 1200 x 600 mm large-format slabs — and we are experienced with complex layouts including herringbone, chevron, brick bond, and feature panel arrangements.
Compliant waterproofing membranes applied to all wet areas in accordance with AS 3740
Underfloor heating preparation — cable or mat systems bedded beneath tiles for year-round comfort
Large format tile installation with laser-levelled substrates and lippage-free finishes
Mosaic feature walls and niche detailing that add a designer touch to bathrooms and splashbacks
Natural stone sourcing and installation — marble, travertine, bluestone, and granite cut to size
Professional grout sealing and colour-matched grouting to protect joints and enhance appearance
From Bare Substrate to Finished Floor
The longevity of a tiled surface depends almost entirely on what happens before the first tile is placed. We begin by inspecting the substrate — the concrete slab, cement sheet, or existing screed — checking for cracks, level variations, and moisture content. Any defects are repaired with appropriate patching compounds, and out-of-level areas are corrected with self-levelling screed so tiles sit flat without rocking.
In wet areas such as bathrooms, showers, and laundries, waterproofing is mandatory under Australian Standards. We apply a liquid membrane to floors and walls, reinforcing all corners, joints, and penetrations with fabric tape. The membrane is allowed to cure fully and is tested before any tiling begins, giving you documented proof that the wet area is protected against water ingress.
Tile layout is planned before adhesive is mixed. We dry-lay a section of tiles to confirm pattern alignment, identify where cuts will fall, and ensure symmetry around focal points like shower niches and vanity centres. This step prevents unsightly thin slivers at edges and keeps grout lines consistent. Adhesive is then spread with the correct notched trowel, and tiles are set using a back-buttering technique on larger formats to achieve full coverage.
After the adhesive cures we grout all joints, clean excess grout from the tile face, and apply a penetrating sealer to both grout lines and any natural stone surfaces. The result is a surface that resists staining, is easy to maintain, and looks as good five years on as it does the day it is completed.
